Comp postponed...

Heyy folks,
cause of the warm temperature, the Nissan Tram Face is postponed to Sunday. Today, there'll be the opening ceremony and the bib draw. Another riders meeting will be on Saturday.
We had lots of fun skiing yesterday... its like spring skiing in Europe... hard life in California ;-)

Cheers,
B

Tram Face

Heyy Hey,
we arrived last night at 12 in Kings Beach, bout half an hour away from the ski resort in Squaw... At the moment it's 4 o'clock in the afternoon in Tahoe. Today we went to the Valley to make some photos of the main option, the Tram Face! And there it is... awesome...

The organisators are discussing 2 other options, depending on the snow conditions...
We'll receive more information at the riders meeting tomorrow in the evening!
Stay tuned,
B

Off to Squaw Valley....

Heyy Guys,
I took the train this morning from Augsburg to the airport in Munich! There I met Eva and Janina to fly to Squaw! It was a long flight but soooo funny with the girls...
At the moment we'r sitting at the airport in Atlante, waiting for our flight to Salt Lake City and after that to Reno, where Ms Paaso will pick us up...
Some first impressions...
Daily news following,
Cheers,
B

No luck these days...

Heyy Guys,
damn it! No luck these days. I had a super fluid and fast run at the World Qualifier at Fieberbrunn, jumped a clean backy with a little backslap...  and crashed right after that... perhaps cause of the traverse or something like that.
Sorry that I didn't post anything the last days, but we had no internet access in our accomodation.
Attached the run of the Engadinsnow. The run of Fieberbrunn is following later!
Cheers,
B

Engadinsnow Results

Hey Heyy,
I had a good run at the Engadinsnow but unfortunately crashed right in front of the finish... like many other riders. My ski got stuck in the windblown snow and I lost it. Probably I wasn't as concentrated as in the upper part of the venue, because I was out of power. So, no excuses :-)
But the conditions were very sketchy. Windblown snow in the upper part, icy in the main coloir, and changing from powder to windblown snow in the lowest section. And very sharky in the whole venue... I hitted sooo many rocks during my run. Not so cool, especially in the no fall zones!
But that's life... Nevertheless, I had a really good time in St. Moritz, all the riders were in the same hotel, we all had a awesome party after the comp, good conversations and the best hangover ice hockey game ever ;-)
Great job from the organsiation team. Thanks Christian!
I'm now leaving St.Moritz to the next Qualifier event in Fieberbrunn. Hope that I can score a better result there!
The vid of my run is following...
And congrats to Sam for the victory.... you killed it!
See ya,
B

So, the comp will be tomorrow. I hope that I have enough time for inspection tomorrow in the morning. At the moment I'm studying the pictures of the face. There it is! Looots of rocks!

Chamonix - Second Chapter

Today we had our meeting at 6.15 in the morning to get ready for the 2nd World Tour Stop. So early, cause the forecast was only good for the first hours of the morning.
So, after a big party in Chamonix last night we went straight, without sleeping & still drunken to the cable station of Flegere...  haha just kiddin' :-)
But honestly it was very early... Torgrim, Reine and me hat a short sleep cause we were inspecting the pictures of the face for a long time the evening before...
After a solid first comp at the Brevent I was looking for a kind of winning line... I chose a sweet drop at the top and a massive cliff at the bottom, where I planned a backflip!
The problem: very huge, windblown landing, pretty flat landing and a sketchy takeoff.... yessss.... go for it!
As you can imagine i wasn't totally sure bout my line, but I remembered JT Holmes words at the top: "Do it like the post office... send it" hahaaaaa
And no... i didn't send it! ;-)
I missed the the sketchy takeoff of the huge cliff a bit and didn't get enough rotation for the flip. I still landed on my feet, but had to much weight on my nose... and exploded. Both bindings ejected immediately, my sticks broke, the helmet cam flew away and the !abs airbag! ejected.
No I definately didn't send anything today... but i had definately the biggest drop of the day :-)

Julien Lopez won the comp, in front of Candide Thovex and Henrik Windstedt/Seb Michaud, both placed 3rd.

Julien Lopez with an awesome winning run:

My run with helmet cam:

So I just arrived in Augsburg, will stay there for 2 days, then heading to ISPO in  Munich, after that to St. Moritz for the Engadinsnow...

Take a look the next days for more news....
Cheers,
B
