Day 1 Kirkwood

So comp day 1 in Kirkwood is over… pretty weird. Lots of guys crashed, 4 skiers got dragged out of the venue  by the ski patrol with serious injuries…

I had a solid run, missed my line a bit but still tried to ski fluid. So in the overall ranking (including the Freeskiing World Tour guys) im 25th out of 69. The cut is on rank 31 so that i can start on day 2 tomorrow. In the Freeride World Tour im 5th after day 1… really cool. 7 World Tour riders are competing tomorrow, the others got cut out…

Kirkwood again…

So to be honest, theres not a lot of snow left from the 3 meter snowfall the last days… think most of the snow got blown away by the wind and anyways everything is tracked pretty fast in the US.

But the good news: There’s a snowstorm at the moment and we got up to half a meter fresh over the night. Lifts are still closed but think the resort will open later for havin some treeruns…

Looks like there is a inspection tomorrow and then a comp on sunday and monday or maybe saturday and sunday… but we’ll see.

The comp system over here is a bit different as we’r competing together with the guys of the Freeskiing World Tour. There is a first comp day and a cut after that, then a second comp day with a cut and a superfinal after…

Just have a look at the venue… the first comp day will be held on the lookers left side of the face…

Some Impression…

 

Kirkwood

After some days off with lots of PR stuff to do the World Tour continues in California this weekend.

I met Pia, Stefan, Hauni and Tom at the airport in Munich yesterday in the morning.. starting pretty relaxed as u see below :)

Pretty cool, that we also met Cri, Niklas and some other guys flying to the Qualifier Event in Andorra.

So after a 18 hours flight and stops in Frankfurt and San Fransisco I finally arrived at 7:30 pm in Reno.

Greenland--- drop us off here!

So after spending the night in Reno we are now on the way to Kirkwood.

They got 3 meters of fresh snow the last 7 days on a snowbase of 4,5 meters… sounds amazing… time to go big :)

i didnt ski a lot the last days… i felt a bit tired after the first comps and snow sucked anyways…

But i had some media stuff to do. Really stoked that Aline and me got invited to the live show Stern TV

Right after that i went to EgoFm in Munich to talk a bit bout Freeriding and to raffle a new UVEX Hlmt 3 Pure to the listeners…

 

 

So, tomorrow I’v got a meeting with the guys from the FOCUS magazine in Munich… flying to the USA on Tuesdays for the third FWT Stop in Kirkwood (California).

Some stuff...

sorry was pretty busy the last days...

Competed at the 4* qualifier in Hochfügen and got 4th after a solid run and some drops... pretty stoked bout that!

Right after that i went straight to ISPO, where i spent the last 4 days including awesome new stuff, some afterpartys and a headache in the morning...

So now I'm back in Augsburg, waiting for some snow for filming and shooting...
