On the snow almost his entire life, skiing is Hannemann’s defining passion. As a child he joined the local ski club, competing for many years with his peers in the local ski racing scene. Hannemann was selected to join the "C/D – Kader" in Germany, but his motivation waned as he suffered with injuries.

Moving on to freestyle skiing, Hannemann had success at a national level before his big breakthrough came in 2008/2009 when he had the chance to compete in the World Qualifier Tour. With great results in Chamonix, Jasna and Nendaz he reached 2nd place at the Engadin Snow Invitational in St Moritz. This led to a wildcard for the 2009/2010 Freeride World Tour, where he achieved an incredible 10th place in the world ranking. The following year, Hannemann reached 9th in the world ranking, qualifying him for the 2011/2012 Freeride World Tour. A break to his left heel curtailed his season early, but, having received a wildcard for the 2012/2013 Freeride World Tour he is motivated to return to competition this season.

Beyond competition, Hannemann, also known as Basti to his friends works hard on shoots for magazines, sponsors and filming. Previously working with Aestivation and Legs of Steel, Hannemann has exciting projects planned for the 2012/2013 season.
